Vintage Dealer Amanda Kääriäinen’s tips
I work at my company, Vintage Style Events HKI, as a vintage dealer and producer of vintage events, based in the beautiful and diverse city of Helsinki. The physical connection to materials and objects, as well as being present in experience-based services, plays a major and important role in both my professional and personal life. I find inspiration in brick-and-mortar spaces and see a walk around the city as a deep dive into local culture, and the history of architecture and design. Conversations with local entrepreneurs add even more depth and richness to the experience, no matter the city.
In addition to the world of vintage, I also have the privilege of serving as Vice Chair of Design District Helsinki, which has given me a close-up view of how Helsinki and its local brick-and-mortar scene have evolved over the past ten years. We’ve faced challenging times, but we’ve never forgotten what genuine encounters and experiences feel like. Right now, summer in Helsinki is at its best, and I encourage both visitors and locals to live and breathe the local scene all year round. Our hometown holds an immeasurable amount of design expertise and incredible aesthetic gems—some of which I now have the pleasure of sharing with you as my personal favorites.
