Next Design Evening will be celebrated on 28 February
Experience design at Design Museum’s Design Evenings when we have free entry to all our exhibitions and events! In honor of the Design Museums 150th anniversary in 2023, the evening events organized on a monthly basis will turn into whole-day events, and entry will be free of charge during the opening hours of the museum, from 11 am to 8 pm. The Design Evening in February will offer programmes in connection with the Vuokko + Antti Nurmesniemi exhibition: guided tours, a panel discussion on Antti Nurmesniemi’s career, and an open workshop.

Stripes, stripes, stripes! -workshop for all ages

Together we will get inspired to look at familiar stripe patterns in a new way: where can you see stripes and their rhythms? The guided workshop draws its inspiration from the Antti + Vuokko Nurmesniemi exhibition. In the workshop, the technique is sketching and various material experiments, which are tackled by researching, wondering and experimenting together. The workshop is aimed especially at children and young people. The workshop is guided in Finnish and English.

The programme of the Design Evenings this spring includes a series of three discussions in which Antti and Vuokko Nurmesniemi’s work and influence in the field of Finnish design will be explored with Program Director of Helsinki Design Weekly Anni Korkman and various guests. Antti Nurmesniemi was an influential designer and a bellwether in the field of design. Vuokko Nurmesniemi revolutionized the Finnish textile and fashion industry.
The second discussion will take place at Februarys’s Design Evening on February 28. at 18-19 in the auditorium of the Design Museum, and the theme is Antti Nurmesniemi. The guests are Ph.D. Susanna Aaltonen and interior architect Jorma Valkama. You do not need to register for the event in advance. The event has places for 70 people. The discussion is in Finnish.
The event is free of charge and there is a program in Finnish, Swedish and English. The Design Museum building is accessible.
