Design District Helsinki members at Helsinki Design Week

Helsinki Design Week 2026 will take place from 28 August to 6 September, spreading across the city centre of Helsinki in a diverse range of venues and locations. Design District Helsinki and its members are also participating in the festival in several ways, including the following:

Seminar: Towards a More Vibrant City Centre

On Tuesday, 1 September, from 2 to 4 pm, Helsinki Design Week will bring together experts in urban planning, business, design and culture at the Helsinki City Hall Event Square to explore new solutions for the future of the city.

How should Helsinki city centre be reshaped?

For decades, urban centres have been built around retail, offices and public infrastructure. Digital commerce, remote work, changing consumer habits and new ways of living are challenging this model.

Design District Helsinki member entrepreneur Veeti Wahlsten (Affis poster shop) will take part in the seminar’s panel discussion alongside entrepreneur Mikko Leisti and Timo Hämäläinen, Senior Advisor for Economic Development at the City of Helsinki. Wahlsten will bring the perspective of local independent brick-and-mortar businesses to the discussion.

Please note that the seminar and panel discussion will be held in Finnish. Participation in the seminar requires advance registration. You can find more information about the seminar here.

Design District Helsinki members at this weekend’s Design Market at Kaapelitehdas

Design Market will be open at the Merikaapelihalli at Kaapelitehdas on Saturday, 29 August and Sunday, 30 August from 11 am to 6 pm.
