Blog: Seminar encourages us to understand expanding LGTBQ market

Free seminar for DDH-members 14th of April from 9 am!

“As a vice chairperson for the Design District Helsinki I´m proud that many innovations in our city are made by our members. Many of our members are also well connected for the Finnish design institutions and I dare to say we also have become one of them!

Our spring seminar for the DDH´s members surely has an interesting theme that supports both our economic opportunities as well as gives a strong message. And that is also how I would wish to see our association.

Gay Travel Finland is a new marketing channel to offer products and services for customers linked to the LGTBQ community. Now, we are not only talking about individuals who consider themselves gay but much larger number of people who have open attitudes and are committed to consume service in places they find like-minded.

Gay Travel Finland is run by Hannu Virtanen-Medina together with his husband Raúl Medina. Their earlier blog Lifeof2Men was a huge international success because Hannu and Raúl talked openly about their life as a minority couple between cultures.

Virtanen-Medina arrives to lecture us on how to understand the LGTBQ linked community and their consumer habits better. We also hear a showcase of Hurja Media company. Hurja Media has already made successful campaigns in the area. For example, for Hotel Helka when the equal law of marriage was ratified last year.

My own business Happy Guide Helsinki has already taken its first steps to support open values when we started the Tom of Finland Experience guided tours that roam all over the Design District Helsinki. Hence we partner with similar minded DDH members like Finlayson and Klaus K.

I sincerely wish to see many of you in the seminar!”
