Hotel Helka

Hotel Helka is a warm, characterful design hotel in Helsinki, right next to the creative neighborhood known as the Design District.

Finnish design is woven into the hotel’s identity; it’s visible in the Artek classics, Aalto vases and carefully selected details that create a calm, welcoming atmosphere — whether you’re staying for one night or several.

Our story reaches back to the 1920s, when the Young Women’s Christian Association of Finland (YWCA) built this property as a residence for women. Over the decades, many different services filled the building: a bakery, a daycare, a dance school and several community activities. This rich history still shapes Helka. Guests often say they feel care, warmth and genuine hospitality the moment they arrive.
Breakfast plays an important role in a stay at Helka.

All room rates include a generous buffet with fresh ingredients and local flavors. We serve breakfast on weekdays from 6:30 to 10:30, and on weekends, public holidays and throughout July from 7:00 to 11:00. Visitors not staying at the hotel are welcome to join for €23. Our breakfast is relaxed, flavorful and thoughtfully curated — just as a good breakfast should be.

Our saunas offer a peaceful break in the middle of the city. We provide separate saunas for women and men. They are heated every morning from 7:00 to 12:00 and again in the evening from 17:00 to 22:00. Many guests tell us that the soft heat and warm light from the sauna become the highlight of their stay.

Helka is a pet‑friendly hotel. Dogs are true guests of honor, and our team gladly helps with anything your four‑legged friend might need.
