Hanna Hyy’s third solo exhibition revolves around the crisis of existence and the solutions offered by the psyche. In the exhibition’s paintings made with a mixed technique of water and oil paint, one identifies with the bodies of stuffed birds literally nailed in place in stagnant settings and inaccessible portals that open through mirrors. Hyy approaches the animal’s body, trying to understand it through the desire for freedom and touch/untouchability. In the exhibition’s paintings, the claustrophobia caused by crises is aimed towards the breathing space offered by the afterlife.
Hyy’s painting relies on strong color and precision, enticing the viewer to enjoy the experiences of discomfort and melancholy.
