Johanna Kerttula from Lapuan Kankurit, Larissa Immonen from Finarte and designer Johanna Gullichsen discussed the significance of neighbours and neighbourhoods for companies operating in central Helsinki. Everyone agreed that the best thing about running a brick and mortar shop is meeting new people, assisting them and enabling new discoveries on the streets of Helsinki.
“These encounters are enriching and will bring inspiration and joy to my own daily routines”, one of them mentioned.
Also experiences from overseas, global neighbours and business partners became part of the discussion. Both local neighbours and more distant mental neighbours and partners can be equally important. Long relationships with suppliers for example are particularly valued and have become cornerstones for all participants. Some have even become family members.
The role of well known Finnish brands such as Lapuan Kankurit, Finarte and Johanna Gullichsen as trail blazers for smaller brands was raised up by the audience. They can have a significant role in paving the way for smaller companies looking to take their business into international waters.
We thank all participants and the public for sharing the passion for small local businesses!
