Tea shop tea tasting / 10:00–19:00
The TeeMaa tea shop invites guests to taste two teas and vote on which should represent Helsinki!
- Grandpa Special, smoked yellow tea from the villages of Anhua in the Chinese province of Hunan. The grandfather of TeeMaa’s owner, Peng Luo, made the first batch of this tea, lending it the name Grandpa Special. This tea truly has a special place in our hearts. The tea is only made in the home village of Peng and only sold in our dear home town of Helsinki. The tea is smoked by burning maple seeds. The aroma has an alder-like character that brings visions of fireplaces, forest outings, summer barbecues, smoke saunas and smoked delicacies.
- Yueyang Needle Green, green tea made solely of buds from the city of Yueyang in the Chinese province of Hunan. This green tea has a unique aroma that resembles light green spruce shoots. Spruces push out new shoots late in spring, right about when nature is reaching full bloom. The appearance of Yueyang Needle Green is that of pine needles. Pine trees have been a favourite subject of Chinese art and poetry for millennia, and Confucius himself admired the ability of pine to survive even harsh conditions.
